A pedestrian was hit and killed on the 5 freeway in Boyle Heights, early Friday morning, causing traffic for miles.

California Highway patrol hasn’t released any information on what the pedestrian was doing on the side of the freeway, or how the accident occurred.  No information about the victim is made available.

The freeway was fully shut down after the 4:48 a.m. accident, but one lane was reopened at 5:10 a.m., and traffic began to flow in every lane at around 6:30 a.m.

A man driving the wrong way on the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 was stopped before causing any accidents, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 88-year-old man was warned by a Clark County sheriff’s deputy who was able to turn on his flashers so the man would drive onto the shoulder of the freeway. The motorist drove the wrong way between the 78th Street and the Main Street before the authorities were able to stop him.
